The George Hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and we were asked to supply the furniture throughout the three restaurant and bar areas that were all inter-linked.
In the main restaurant area large free standing bench units were included with oversized backs. We used free standing benches rather than traditional banquette seating as the hotel wanted the flexibility to move the furniture around for different functions. On a day to day basis when the benches are placed back to back they create booth seating in the restaurant so diners enjoy more privacy.
The middle bar was mainly used for customers enjoying a light lunch and drinks and as this was a narrower space with a curved wall so fitted banquette seating worked well in this area.
The bar was a traditional hub for locals to come and have a drink in the evening, but throughout the day they needed the seating and tables to work for serving either lunch or afternoon teas. Club chairs were used around some recycled old tables that were already in the hotel and all of the bar tops and reception counters throughout were changed for smart new solid wood tops.
